Saronida is a proper small coastal town rather than a beach with a road behind it. The sand is soft and the bay shallow, there is a fishing harbour at one end, and tavernas sit close enough to the water that lunch and swimming are the same outing.
The pace here is weekend-house rather than day-trip: a lot of the people on the beach live in the area from May to September. That gives it a settled, unhurried feel you do not get closer to the city.
Getting there
About 18 km south of Glyfada and 29 km from central Athens, roughly half an hour by car down the coastal road. Buses on the Athens–Sounio route stop in the town.
