Agios Nikolaos is the sheltered counterpart to Anavyssos next door: a smaller bay tucked behind a headland, with a working fishing harbour at one end and calm water even when the wind is up further along the coast.
The harbour is the reason to come as much as the beach. The tavernas along the water get their fish off the boats, and a long lunch here after a swim is one of the more genuinely Greek things you can do within forty minutes of Glyfada.
Getting there
About 22 km south of Glyfada and 33 km from central Athens, immediately north of Anavyssos. A car is the practical option; parking is around the harbour.
