Mikro Kavouri

A small, pine-shaded cove on the Kavouri peninsula, one of the quietest spots accessible from the southern suburbs.

The beach

Mikro Kavouri is the smaller of the two coves on the Kavouri headland, tucked into the pines on the road that loops around the peninsula. It is a modest beach — a short arc of sand, shallow water, a few trees giving real shade — and its appeal is precisely that it does not try to be more than that.

Because it is small it fills quickly, and because it is beautiful it fills early. Arrive before midday in July and August and you will have space; arrive at three and you will be looking for it. Out of season it is one of the most peaceful places to swim within twenty minutes of Glyfada.

Getting there

Roughly 5 km south of Glyfada and 18 km from central Athens, on the Kavouri peninsula road. There is no tram here — a car, taxi, or the coastal bus toward Vouliagmeni is the way in, and roadside parking is limited to a handful of spaces.
