The beach
Yabanaki is the large organised beach at the western end of Varkiza bay, and it has been a fixture of Athenian summers for a long time. It runs at scale: a long groomed shoreline, hundreds of loungers, water sports, courts, food, and a music programme that builds through the afternoon.
It is the opposite of a quiet cove, and that is the point. If you want a full day out with facilities, activity, and a crowd, this is one of the few places on the Riviera set up to deliver all of it in one ticket.
Getting there
About 6 km south of Glyfada and 18 km from central Athens, on the coastal road at Varkiza. Coastal buses toward Varkiza and Saronida stop close by, and there is a large car park at the entrance.
